From the Director’s Desk

It is my pride and pleasure to welcome you on this website to get acquainted and updated about the activities of this Institute. Here, an effort is made to provide as much information as possible to you about the excellent work being undertaken at CSIR-Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CSIR-CIMFR).

The Institute has highly accomplished and experienced scientists and engineers in the fields of mining, chemical and mechanical engineering, metallurgy, geo-science and chemistry as well as basic science and engineering from allied disciplines expanding the horizons in the two areas of mining and fuel research. A whole gamut of R&D efforts in the most important areas of coal mining and coal based energy chain encompassing exploration, mining, exploitation and environmental concerns is highlighted. CIMFR renders knowledge driven expertise for exploitation of various mineral deposits through its basic research and excavations of hydroelectric projects, tunnels, railways, airport etc as civil infrastructure projects by its translational research of strategic importance. The institute is committed to work for the country’s energy security and growth with an eye for a high standard of safety, productivity and cleaner environment.
