The research centre aspires to be globally recognised self-sustainable centre of excellence for providing catalytic R&D supports to the industry in the areas of Coal Science and Rock Engineering leading to societal upliftment of people of the country
About us
CIMFR Research Centre Bilaspur is the only CSIR research Centre in Chhattisgarh state. The Centre provides not only technical services but also important R & D services to coal exploratory organisations, coal producers and coal user industries of the region. The centre is equipped with modern and sophisticated infrastructure for coal analysis, the centre with NABL accreditation has highest level of accuracy in testing of coal and solid fuels. We have a vision to be a torch bearer for entire coal sector, both the producers and consumers. CIMFR boasts of expertise in coal characterization, Coal utilization technologies, value added products from coal and coal washability studies.
Recently a new dimension has been added to CIMFR Bilaspur in the form of expertise in mining science domain area with specialisation in rock mechanics and rock engineering. The centre is fast growing up adding new laboratory facilities for all testing works like Physio-mechanical tests on rock samples, rock mass characterisation. The centre is providing technical service in the form of sponsored and applied research projects for optimisation of drilling and blasting for open cast and underground mines, Tunnel engineering, evaluation of damage potential of the blast induced ground vibration and air overpressure.
