Natural Resource Management

Our Mandate

To develop sustainable solutions for environmental challenges of mining and allied industries.

About us

Natural Resource Management (NRM) group of CSIR-CIMFR is a department with a multidisciplinary talent to carry out environmental management research for sustainable development of mining and allied industries. NRM is conducting basic and strategic research in heterogeneous mining areas all over the country to address issues at the ground level and develop location-specific, cost-effective, eco-friendly, socially acceptable scientific approaches to manage the damage of natural resources and the environment due to mining activities. NRM research team is committed to enhancing and developing new scientific technologies for monitoring, understanding, and conservation of the natural resource, ecology, biodiversity, environmental factors, mine waste management, toxic substance management in a mining area. Department has been prioritized different themes focused on sustainable development of the environment and society in and around a mining area.

  • Natural resource conservation technology

  • Natural resources characterization and quality management

  • Reclamation of mine overburden (OB) dump and its management

  • Integrated plants, microbes, nutrients, climate management, and correlation

  • Natural toxic pollutants management by biomagnifications, bioremediation, bioaccumulation

The NRM Group has been entrusted for ecological and environmental research studies viz. air, soil, flora and,          fauna.

Our Expertise

  • Ecological analysis, restoration, bio-remediation

  • Bio-reclamation and Waste Dumps Management

  • Bioprospecting and biotechnological applications

  • Bioaccumulation and biomagnification studies

  • Air quality monitoring and modeling

  • Societal mission projects

  • Waste resource management
